Unlike the previous Withings app, the new one (call simply “Withings”) wants to be a hub for your health tracking. You can hook it up to your Withings Wi-Fi scale and the Withings Blood Pressure Monitor and it will track and graph the data. And now you can also bring in sleep data from Zeo, fitness tracking data from RunKeeper and activity data from your BodyMedia armband.

The app is neat enough, although navigation is a little confusing. I’m sure you’d get used to it, and you will probably be motivated to persevere as it is also quite pretty. But like any of these apps, it really depends on which services you already use. I wear a FitBit, which is excellent, and I add cycling data manually into the FitBit app after recording it with Cyclemeter (running on an iPad). Finally, I track the food I eat with the lame-named MyFitnessPal (because it has a database that isn’t just U.S packaged foods). Unfortunately, the Withings app doesn’t work with any of these, although you can theoretically pipe your Withings scale info into the FitBit app.

I guess an industry-standard way to share this data would be too much to ask for. Anyhow, if you own any Withings gear, grab this app and try it out. It’s nothing super special on its own, but if you also use the supported services you might just grow to love it.

WiFi Scale Tracker is a Windows Phone application for tracking your weight as measured by a Withings WiFi Body Scale, written by Dan Crevier. This application is not usable without a Withings scale and requires you to use your my.withings.com account. Withings Health Mate is the best way to keep track of activity, sleep, weight, and more. Whatever your health goal, you’ll find support for it in the Health Mate app. Know where you stand and get inspired to move more: activate step tracking on your phone in the Health Mate app.
